Apparently general manager Sam Hinkie wasn’t the only one impressed with Khalif Wyatt’s summer league performance in Orlando. Sixers forward Thaddeus Young liked what he saw as well.

Wyatt, a former Temple University standout who went undrafted in June, is looking to squash concerns about how his game, noticeably devoid of speed, will translate to the professional level. His impressive summer league performance may have helped.

“Khalif Wyatt’s really impressed me,” Young told Jeff McMenamin of Philadunkia. “He’s really shown what he can do in these games.”

What Wyatt has shown is, not only an affinity for scoring, as many were already well-aware of his aptitude in that area, but also an ability to pass and be an all-around player.

Which will happen first?
The 76ers will name a coach.
Chip Kelly will pick a starting QB.
The Phillies will get back in the race.

In just over 19 minutes of action per contest in the OPSL, Wyatt averaged an impressive 3.2 assists, in addition to 13.8 points and 1.6 steals, numbers that caught the eye of the Sixers’ GM, as well as a prospective teammate in Young.

“He can really pass. I think he's done a good job so far, [and] we've been pleased to have him here," Hinkie stated late last week, a sentiment echoed by Young in his interview with McMenamin.

“Scoring’s what he does and I think he would definitely be able to add that off the bench for us next season if he’s signed,” Young continued, offering a vote of confidence in Wyatt’s NBA abilities.

Wyatt still has a lot of work to do to continue improving and expanding his game for the next level of competition, but the Sixers could certainly use some scoring, especially in a relief role.

While Hinkie has stated that it is too “early” to hand him a roster spot, Wyatt’s summer league performances caught the attention of many around the league, and it seems he already has a supporter in the Sixers locker room in Young.
