Sixers short-handed against Magic

ORLANDO – The 76ers will have nine players dressed against the Orlando Magic Sunday evening at the Amway Center.

Shooting guard Hollis Thompson will be sidelined with an upper respiratory infection. Reserve power forward Furkan Aldemir will miss his second game with plantar fasciitis in his right heel.

Sixers coach Brett Brown wouldn't disclose who is going to start in Thompson's spot after shootaround Sunday morning.

"The obvious ones," he said of candidates. "You can do a bunch of different ways. I'll try to figure that out tonight before the game."

Guards Tony Wroten, K.J. McDaniels and guard/forward JaKarr Sampson are the only available players that could step in and take his place.

Wroten is the team's best option. The backup point guard started a few games at shooting guard and averages a team-best 16.5 points. However, he and Michael Carter-Williams are the only true point guards on the roster.

Thompson is averaging 7.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

Aldemir signed with the Sixers on Monday and played in that night's setback to the Boston Celtics. He finished with 2 points and 2 rebounds in 9 minutes, 32 seconds of action.
