Sixers reportedly interested in Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo is great point guard, one of the best of this era. But he probably isn't the best fit for the 76ers.

SALT LAKE CITY – Rajon Rondo is great point guard, one of the best of this era.

However, he and the 76ers wouldn't be a good mix – at least not at this stage of his career.

The 30-year-old free agent would be better suited playing for a team with a chance to contend for an NBA title. The Sixers would be better suited adding another point guard that can grow with their young team and co-exist with point forward Ben Simmons.

The first overall pick will have the ball in his hands at times, while Rondo is a ball-dominant point guard.

However,  ESPN's Undefeated is reporting the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, Sixers and possibly the New Orleans Pelicans have expressed interest in the 10-year veteran.  A league source said the Sixers don't have interest him.

Rondo averaged 11.9 points and a league-leading 11.7 assists this past season with the Kings. That marked the fourth time that he averaged a double-double during his career.

ESPN is reporting that Rondo is open minded about returning to Kings.  However, the Kings don't want to offer him a lucrative contract.

The Sixers are willing to overpay players in order to make a splash in free agency.  But it just doesn't appear like Rondo and the club would be a good fit.
