Sixers' Robert Covington won't make road trip

Robert Covington won't make the 76ers' road trip to Cleveland on Friday and Toronto on Sunday, a team spokesman said.

Covington missed the Sixers' 99-92 loss to visiting Atlanta on Wednesday night because of right knee soreness. He felt discomfort after Tuesday's 106-101 win at Brooklyn in which he had 21 points and 13 rebounds in 38 minutes, 23 seconds.

Afterward, he told the medical staff of knee discomfort and also swelling. Covington had an MRI on Wednesday. According to a team official, the Sixers' doctors and medical staff were reviewing and discussing the results of the MRI and continuing to treat him.

The 6-foot-9 Covington is averaging 12.9 points and 6.5 rebounds in 67 games.

In addition to Covington, injured Sixers Jahlil Okafor, Sergio Rodriguez and Ben Simmons also didn't make the trip. Oakfor has missed the last four games with right knee soreness and Rodriguez the last two with a left hamstring strain. Simmons has been out for the year with a right foot fracture.
