Sixers' Embiid soaks in MVP chants

As Joel Embiid was icing the 76ers' 94-89 victory over the Raptors on the foul line Wednesday night, the Wells Fargo Center erupted in a chant that was music to the center's ears.

"MVP, MVP, MVP," many in the crowd of 17,223 yelled, and Embiid certainly took notice.

"It is great. It is amazing," said Embiid, who had 26 points and nine rebounds and shot 12 for 14 from the foul line. "That is something last year, I never thought it would happen, I never thought we would be winning so many games, especially so many games in row."

Embiid likes to engage with fans. At times late in the game, he raised his arms, requesting the building to get louder. The fans delivered.

"What I am trying to do is change the culture, and I like to get into it with fans," said Embiid, who is averaging 19.9 points and 7.8 rebounds in 25.2 minutes. "I don't like quiet. I play better when fans are into it,  chanting MVP, chanting for us, and that is what I love."
