Sixers to work out three-point threat Tyler Dorsey
The 76ers need to add shooters.
Tyler Dorsey will audition for one of those roles Wednesday. That's when the former Oregon shooting guard will participate in the Sixers predraft workout at the team's practice facility.
Dorsey, who left Oregon after his sophomore season, is projected to go in the second round of the June 22 NBA draft. NBADraft.net's mock draft has the Sixers selecting him with the 50th-overall pick. The team also has picks No.s 36, 39 and 46 in the second round in addition to the third-overall pick.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder scored 1,055 points during his two seasons with the Ducks. He shot 42.3 percent from three-point range this past season. The Los Angeles native made 40.6 of this three-pointers as a freshman.
Dorsey, 21, averaged 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists at Oregon. He really elevated his play in this season's Pac-12 and NCAA tourneys, averaging 23.3 points and shooting 55.8 percent on threes.
But he's not just a good shooter. Dorsey, who worked out for the Washington Wizards Monday, is a solid ball handler.
However, he struggles to score around the basket. A lot of that has to do with a lack of bulk that makes itdifficult for him to finish around the basket. Dorsey also needs to be more aware of what's going on defensively. And he needs to more consistent with his intensity.
