Report: Holmes out with fractured elbow

76ers power forward Richaun Holmes will reportedly miss six to eight weeks with a fractured right elbow.

SALT LAKE CITY -- RealGM is reporting that 76ers power forward Richaun Holmes will miss six to eight weeks with a fractured right elbow.

The 37th pick in June 25 NBA draft, who competed in the Utah Jazz Summer League, is flying back to Philadelphia for an evaluation, according to a source. The team will know more from there. However, citing a source, RealGM, said the elbow is fractured.

Holmes landed hard on his elbow after trying to block Wesley Saunder's layup with 2 minutes, 40 seconds left in regulation of Thursday night's 84-78 loss to the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena. After immediately grabbiing the elbow, the former Bowling Green standout headed to the bench during the timeout. He didn't return and had an X-ray after the game.

"He banged his funny bone," said assistant coach Billy Lange, who coached the summer-league squad in Utah. "We are going to get an X-ray on it just as a precautionary thing, Beyond that I don't know much."

The 6-foot-8, 248-pounder was having a solid summer-league. He had seven points and three rebounds in 15 minutes, 27 seconds before suffering the injury Thursday. Holmes averaged 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and blocked three shots in the three summer-league games.

The Illinois native was scheduled to travel to Las Vegas to compete with the Sixers in the NBA Summer League. Their first game is Saturday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
