76ers-Knicks best/worst: Anderson, Lee, and an all-out tankfest

Our writer's awards for the Sixers' season finale.

NEW YORK – Here's my look at some of the best and worst performances from the Knicks' 114-113 victory over the 76ers at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

Best performance: I had to give this to Justin Anderson even in a losing effort. The Sixers small forward had the best game of his career. He finished with a career-high 26 points on 9-for-10 shooting – including 3 for 4 on three-pointers. The Knicks couldn't stop him.

Worst performance:  This goes to Courtney Lee. The Knicks shooting guard wasn't horrible. But as one of the few regular starters from both teams to play, he played down to his competition. Lee finished with eight points on 2-for-5 shooting. He also failed to grab a rebound or record an assist and graded out at minus-11.

Best defensive performance: Anderson gets this award, too. In addition to his 26 points, he had a game-high three steals to go with one block.

Best performance by a Knick: Marshall Plumlee receives this award. The reserve post player posted career highs of 14 points and 11 rebounds  for the first double-double of his career.

Worst statistic: This award goes to the Knicks' turnovers. The Sixers scored 29 points off New York's 20 turnovers.

Best statistic: This goes to the Knicks' three-point shooting. They made 40.9 percent (9 of 22).

Worst of the worst: The game was a tankfest. It was obvious that both teams were trying to lose down the stretch.  Lee and Carmelo Anthony – the Knicks' only two regular starters – sat out the fourth quarter. So did T.J. McConnell, the Sixers' only healthy point guard.  And despite his career-best outing, Anderson sat out the final 5:41 of the game. Yes, the tank was real, folks.
