Noel won't play against Oklahoma City Thunder

ORLANDO – Nerlens Noel has the day off.

The 76ers center will not compete in Sunday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Orlando Pro Summer League, the Inquirer has learned.

The 6-foot-11, 228-pounder has been working hard since the team started training on Monday. The Sixers want to be smart during this summer-league stretch. Noel  and rookie swingman KJ McDaniel are scheduled  to compete in the Orlando and Las Vegas summer leagues.  As a result, he was never expected to play in all of the Orlando games.

Noel had game highs of 19 points and four steals to go with three assists and a blocked shot in an 83-77 setback to the Magic on Saturday at the Orlando Pro Summer League. The 6-foot-11, 228-pounder was deadly from the foul line, making 7 of 7. He also scored on an array of dunks, floaters, and hook bank shots. His only downside was finishing with just two rebounds in 26 minutes, 17 seconds.

Saturday marked the 20-year-old's first game in the 17 months since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during his lone season at Kentucky.
