Five things you need to know about 76ers today

Five things you need to know about the 76ers today:

1.  While they won't be playoff-bound as Joel Embiid suggested, the  Sixers are no longer the NBA's worst team. At 10-25, they have better records than the Brooklyn Nets (8-28) and Miami Heat (11-28).

2.  Sunday marked the second time the Sixers won three out of four games this season. They initially did it with a victory over the Washington Wizards (Nov. 16), followed by a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves (Nov.17) and consecutive wins against the Phoenix Suns (Nov.19) and the Heat (Nov. 21).  This time, the Sixers  beat the Denver Nuggets (Dec. 30) and Timberwolves  (Tuesday) then lost to the Celtics (Friday) before beating the Nets (Sunday).

3. Embiid is once again getting credit for being one of the league's top shot blockers. That's because he's played in 71.4 percent of the Sixers games.  Players have to compete in at least 70 percent of their team's games to be considered. He ranked fourth with 2.36 per game.

4.  Robert Covington is still bringing it on the defensive end. The swingman is ranked ninth in the NBA in steals with 1.78 per game.

5.  The Sixers will look to snap out of their series funk against the New York Knicks on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center.  The Knicks have won five straight and 11 of the past 13 series meetings.
