Embiid to play versus Cavaliers; rest against Raptors

Joel Embiid is scheduled to play around 24 minutes against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday at Wells Fargo Center. However, the 76ers center is not expected to play on Monday against the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre.

The rookie has been on a short leash to carefully manage his workload and the stress on his right foot during games and practice.  That's because the third overall pick of the 2014 draft missed the past two seasons due to surgeries in the right foot.

He sat out Friday's 105-89 setback to Chicago Bulls.  Embiid is also not scheduled to play on Monday because it will be the second game on back-to-back night. The team formulated the plan to not play him on back-to-backs. And when he does play, the Sixers restrict his minutes.

The 7-foot-2, 276-pounder is averaging 17.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.3 assists and 4.2 turnovers in 22.6 minutes.  Monday's matchup will mark the sixth game he'll miss this season.
