DALLAS  – Brandon Davies went undrafted out of Brigham Young University. Then, the Los Angeles Clippers waived him in the preseason.

But the 6-foot-10, 240-pound rookie is making quite an impression with the Sixers.

“He’s got a real motor,” Sixers coach Brett Brown said of the combo forward. “He’s got a tenacity that you are born with.  … I love the way he plays.”

Davies is averaging 2.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 10.5 minutes in eight game appearances. He had a career-best eight rebounds Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans.  The 22-year-old is a power forward by trade.  But he had to practice at small forward at Monday’s shootaround due to need.

“I played the three a little bit when I was with the Clippers,” he said. “So it’s only going to help if I can learn that position here as well. The more positions I can play, the more minutes I can get. That’s all I’m trying to do.”
