Carter-Williams named rookie of the month

Michael Carter-Williams was named the NBA Eastern Conference rookie of the month on Tuesday.

The 76ers point guard led all rookies in scoring (17.2 points), assists (7.3 assists), steals (2.9 steals) and minutes played (36.2) during the 13 games played in October and November.  The 11th overall pick out of Syracuse was also second in rebounding (5.3). Carter-Williams missed four games with a left foot arch bruise.

He becomes the first Sixer to win the award since Allen Iverson in April of 1997.

This is Carter-Williams' second honor of the season. He was named the conference's player of the week for the first week of the season.

Sacramento Kings shooting guard Ben McLemore is the Western Conference rookie of the month.
