'Best' and 'Worst' awards: Sixers vs. Wizards

WASHINGTON – My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the Washington Wizards' 107-99 victory over the 76ers on Monday at the United Center:

Best performance:  Bradley Beal gets this on an afternoon when Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams finished with a game-high 31 points. While Carter-Williams was impressive, Beal spearheaded the Wizards' victory. The shooting guard made 3 of 4 three-point attempts en route to scoring 22 points. He also finished with a career-high tying eight assists, season-high nine rebounds, a blocked shot and two turnovers in 29 minutes.

Worst performance:  There's no way that you can avoid handing this award to Elliot Williams. The swingman had a larger role due to Tony Wroten being sideline with a right ankle sprain.  Williams responded by missing all eight of his shot attempts. He finished with four points, one rebound, one assist and two turnovers in 29 minutes.

Best performance in a losing effort:  It's a no-brainer to give this to Carter-Williams, who bounced back from receiving the worst performance award in the Sixers' previous two games.  Being more patient, the rookie point guard shot 13 for 22 from the field after making a combined 6 of 29 against the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls. He also had a game-high three steals, six rebounds, five assists and two turnovers on Monday.

Best defensive performance:  With four blocked shots, Marcin Gortat  is the logical person to win this award. Seven of the Wizards center's 11 rebounds came on the defensive end.

Worst statistic: You have to give this to the Sixers' three-point shooting for the third consecutive game even though they showed slight improvement.  They made just 22.2 percent (4 of 18) of their three-point attempts.  As a result, they went a combined 8 for 57 in their last three games.

Best statistic: This award goes to the Wizards blocked shots. Washington blocked 12 of the Sixers shots.

Worst of the Worst:   This goes to Sixers bench production from everyone not named Hollis Thompson. The reserve swingman finished with 13 points, while the rest of the bench combined to score seven.
