Best and Worst awards: Sixers vs. Nets

NEW YORK – My look at some of the best and worst performances from the Brooklyn Nets' 100-91 victory over the 76ers on Thursday at the Barclays Center.

Best performance: This was a tough one. Make that an extremely tough one. But I had to give this to T. J. McConnell even though his Sixers lost the game. The reserve rookie point guard was far from the reason that they suffered they dropped to 1-22 on the season.  McConnell finished with a career-high 17 points and made a career-high three three-pointer in four attempts.  He made 6 of 9 shots overall and compiled three steals. Eight of the former Arizona standout's points came in the third quarter on 3-for-3 shooting.  .

Worst performance: This has to go the Sixers' Hollis Thompson. The reserve guard missed all five of his field-goal attempts – including going 0-for-3  on three-pointers en route to finishing with two points. The third-year veteran was a nonfactor.

Best defensive performance: Even though Sixers power forward Nerlens Noel had a game-high 4 steals steals, this award goes to his teammate  Jerami Grant. The reserve forward finished with two blocks and a steal. Grant has blocked at least two shots in at least 15 games this season. That good enough for the second in the league behind  Hassan Whiteside's 20.

Best performance by a Net: Thad Young wins this award after producing 18  points and a game-high 11 rebounds. It was former Sixer's 10th double-double in the last 13 games. He has 11 total this season.

Worst statistic: You have to give this to the Sixers' three-point shooting, once again. They made just 4 of 31 three-pointers.

Best statistic: This award goes to the Nets shooting. Brooklyn  shot 37-for-74 (50 percent).

Worst of the Worst:   The Sixers best three-point shooters – Robert Covington (0-for-6), Isaiah Canaan (0-for-6), Nik Stauskas (0-for-7) and Hollis Thompson (0-for-3) – their best long-range threats – were a combined 0-for-22 on three-pointers.
