Best and Worst awards: Sixers vs. Bulls
My look at some of the best and worst performances from the Chicago Bulls' 115-111 overall victory over the 76ers Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center:
Best performance: You had to give this award to Jimmy Butler. The Bulls shooting guard scored a career-high 53 points to go with 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and four turnovers. His points were the most by a visitor at the arena.
Worst performance: There's no way that Nikola Mirotic could have avoided receiving this award. The Bulls forward made careless turnovers and kept jacking up shots. He scored seven points, but made just 2 of 13 shots attempts – including 1 for 5 on three-pointers. He also finished with five turnovers.
Best defensive performance: This award goes to Nerlens Noel. The Sixers power forward finished with a game-high three blocks to go with a steal. Noel did finish with eight points on 3-for-7 shooting.
Worst defensive performances: This goes to ALL the poor souls who were assigned to defend Butler. It was like the Sixers were playing five-on-four.
Best performance by a Sixer: Robert Covington had to get this one. The reserve forward scored 25 points while making 6 for 10 three-pointers. He also had six rebounds and two steals before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.
Worst statistic: This goes to the Sixers' third-quarter shooting. They made just 5 of 20 shots in that quarter.
Best statistic: This award goes to the Bulls' rebounding. They outrebounded the Sixers, 53-34.
Worst of the Worst: The Sixers losing a 24-point, second-quarter lead. You don't even have to explain this one.
