"Best" & "Worst" awards: Sixers vs. Cavaliers
CLEVELAND –My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the Cleveland Cavaliers' 111-93 victory over the 76ers on Tuesday night at Quickens Loan Arena:
Best performance: C.J. Miles should thank the Sixers' perimeter defenders for gift-wrapping this award for him. The Cavaliers' shooting guard, who was left unguarded, made 10 of 14 three-pointers to score a season-best 34 points and set a franchise record for made three-pointers in a game. Miles tied the previous record in the first half with eight threes. He made his first six three-point shots.
Worst performance: This has to go to Thaddeus Young after he was held scoreless in a regular-season game for the first time since March 12, 2011. Young, who sat out most of the second half, missed all seven of his shot attempts in 21 minutes of action. Not exactly the type of performance expected from someone who was named the Eastern Conference player of the week on Monday.
Best performance in a losing effort: This goes to Michael Carter-Williams even though 19 of his career-high 33 points came in the second half, when the game was already decided. Even still, he was one of the Sixers few bright spots. Carter-Williams made 13 of 25 shot attempts with six rebounds and five assists while playing 36 minutes.
Best defensive performance: Believe it or not, but this award goes to a Sixers' defender. But James Anderson finished with a game-high three steals to go and two blocked shots. All five of his rebounds have come on the defensive end.
Worst statistic: How can you not give this to the Sixers' three-point shooting in the third quarter? They missed all six of their three-pointers in the quarter.
Best statistic: This award goes to Miles' three-point shooting. He shot 71 percent on three-pointers. That was way better that his team's foul shot percentage (55.6).
Worst of the Worst: This goes to the Sixers perimeter defense. They're invisible men. Even after Miles hit his first six three-pointers, the Sixers left him open.
