'Best' & 'Worst' awards: Sixers vs. Celtics

My look at some of the best and worst performances from the Boston Celtics' 114-108 victory over the 76ers on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center:

Best performance: Any person if his right mind knows Jeff Green is the winner of this award even though Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was a superstar. Green snapped out of a shooting slump by finishing with 36 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. The Celtics small forward made 5 of 7 three-pointers. Seventeen of his points came in the third quarter. He scored 13 consecutive on three-pointers and four foul shots.

Worst performance: This goes to Michael Carter-Williams. The Sixers rookie point guard struggled from the field, shooting 5-for-16 overall and 0-for-3 on three-pointers. Carter-Williams also had a game-high four turnovers. His last one came when he dribbled the ball off his left foot while going to the basket as the Sixers trailing 112-108 with 25 seconds left. He did manage to finish with 11 points and a team-high six assists.

Best defensive performance: The Celtics' Jared Sullinger gets this award after blocking a game-high four shots. The 6-foot-9 center altered several other shots and held Sixers center Spencer Hawes to 5-for-13 shooting.

Best performance in a losing effort: Sixers power forward Thaddeus Young receives this award after recording a team-high 20 points and blocking a shot. The New Orleans'  native made 9 of 17 field goals.

Worst statistic: This award goes to the Celtics' second-quarter free-throw shooting. Boston made just 2 of 8 foul shots (25 percent) in the quarter.

Best statistic: This award goes to the Sixers' free-throw shooting.  They made 17 of 20 free throws to shoot 85 percent from the foul line for the game.
