Ben Simmons rolls right ankle in practice, taken for tests

GALLOWAY, N.J. – Ben Simmons rolled his right ankle during the 76ers' training-camp scrimmage on Friday at Stockton University.  The first overall pick left the gym to receive imaging tests on the ankle and is unlikely to play Tuesday when the Sixers open their preseason against Boston.

The injury occurred midway through a 12-minute, fourth-quarter simulation scrimmage.

"We are going to learn more later," Sixers coach Brett Brown said.

Brown declined to answer more questions about the situation. He referred questions pertaining to injuries to Sixers public relations director Mike Preston.

Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.0 steals last season en route to being a consensus first-team all-American for Louisiana State. The Sixers and Celtics will play at Tuesday night at the University of Massachusetts.
