A lighter, healthier Moultrie as 76ers open camp

The 76ers opened training camp with a thinner and healthier Arnett Moultrie.

Last season, Moultrie was unable to participate until late December after preseason ankle surgery. The power forward didn't play in his first game until Feb. 9 due to less than optimal playing shape.

But at Monday's Media Day  at the Wells Fargo Center, Moultrie looked noticeably thinner than the listed 250 pounds he was listed as last season.

"Last Tuesday, I weighed in at 242 pounds and 10-percent body fat," said the third-year veteran.

But Moultrie said he didn't do anything different in the offseason to shed pounds.

"I'm just 100 percent injury," he said. "This time last year, I was having surgery. So I'm just real excited."

The 6-foot-11 Mississippi State standout is also eager to get a new start.

Moultrie was in coach Brett Brown's doghouse last season. The former all-Southeastern Conference selection was also suspended five games without pay for violating the NBA's and NBA Players Association's anti-drug policy. And he was assigned to the Delaware 87ers, the Sixers NBA Development League team, twice last season.

Moultrie averaged three points and 2.9 rebounds in his 12 games played last season with the Sixers.

"I just wanted to make sure I came back with the weight and body percentage that they me wanted at," he said, "so we can start off at good terms."
