76ers-Celtics Best/Worst: Isaiah Thomas, Ersan Ilyasova and woeful foul shooting
BOSTON – Here is my look at some of the best and worst performances from the Boston Celtics' 116-108 victory over the 76ers on Wednesday night at T.D. Garden:
Best performance: How could I not give this to Isaiah Thomas? The Celtics point guard made 4 of 7 three-pointers en route to scoring a game-high 33 points. Thirteen of his points came in the fourth quarter. Thomas was also clutch from the foul line, hitting 11 of 13.
Worst performance: I had to give this to Ersan Ilyasova. The Sixers power forward missed seven of his nine field-goal attempts and scored only five points. He missed all three of his three-pointers and had more personal fouls (four) than rebounds (three).
Best defensive performance: Jahlil Okafor gets this award. The Sixers reserve center finished with a game-high three blocked shots. He also had four points, four rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes, 7 seconds.
Best performance by a Sixer: This was a tough one, because Dario Saric, Nerlens Noel and T.J. McConnell were all deserving. I opted to go with Saric, even though he missed seven of his eight three-point attempts. The reserve power forward did, however, make 8 of 10 of his two-point attempts en route to a team-high 20 points. He also finished with a game-high 11 rebounds and one block.
Worst statistic: You have to give this to the Sixers' foul shooting. They made 12 of 18 for 66.7 percent.
Best statistic: This goes to the Sixers' points in the paint. They outscored the Celtics, 62-42, in that category.
