Sixers-Timberwolves best and worst

Here is a look at the best and worst performances and happenings from the 76ers' 126-95 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center.

Best performance: While Kevin Love had a game-high 26 points, the Sixers really had no answer for 6-foot-11, 285-pound center Nikola Pekovic, who finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Pekovic shot 7 for 15 from the field and he had five offensive rebounds, or one more than the Sixers.

Worst performance: We will award this to the entire Sixers team. Yes, it's difficult after landing 8 a.m. on Sunday from Portland to close a five-game West Coast trip but the Sixers didn't show the fight that has characterized this team for much of the season. They trailed just 56-50 with under four minutes left the first half, but Minnesota closed the second quarter on a 14-4 run and the Sixers never recovered.

Best defensive performance: While Pekovic would be a strong hoice, Ronny Turiaf came off the bench and gave the Wolves more than 22 effective minutes in just his third game. Not only did he have nine rebounds, but Turiaf also had a team-high two blocked shots and provided some toughness for Minnesota.

Best performance in a losing effort: Thaddeus Young wasn't as dominating as in recent games but he still scored a team-high 20 points for the Sixers, shooting 9 for 16 from the field. He also added three steals and two assists.

Best statistic: From Minnesota's standpoint it would be in the rebounding deparment. The Wolves outrebounded the Sixers 53-40, including 14-4 on the offensive glass.

Worst statistic: Part I: Minnesota had a season-high 16 three-point field goals. The Wolves were 16 for 26 (61.5 percent).

Worst statistic Part II: The Sixers committed 23 turnovers while Minnesota had 13. During their four-game win streak, the Sixers averaged 13.5 turnovers per game.

Quotable: "I think after a while basketball is all mental. Physical-wise, people get tired obviously, but you really have to bounce back and stick together, especially with the squad that we have. We have to stay greedy. We're a youg squad and we just have to keep going better and keep wanting more."

Fast fact:  Love has now scored 20 or more points in 14 consecutive games. The team record is 16 set by Kevin Garnett in 2003.

Fast fact II: By scoring 95 points, the Sixers snapped a seven game streak of scoring 10 or more points. The Sixers are now 1-13 when scoring below 100 points this season.
