Sean O'Sullivan to DL; Dustin McGowan to start Thursday

Righthander Sean O'Sullivan, who had been slated to start Thursday's series finale against the Marlins, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with left knee tendinits. Dustin McGowan, who has made five apperances out of the Phillies bullpen, will start in O'Sullivan's place.

Sean O'Sullivan, who had been slated to start Thursday's series finale against the Marlins, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with left knee tendinitis. Dustin McGowan, who has made five appearances out of the Phillies bullpen, will start in O'Sullivan's place.

McGowan has allowed two runs over seven innings of relief despite giving up seven hits and issuing seven walks. The 33-year-old righthander has experience as a starter but the Phillies signed him as a reliever.

In conjunction with placing O'Sullivan on the DL, the Phillies recalled righthanded reliever Hector Neris from triple-A Lehigh Valley. Neris has allowed two runs and 10 hits over eight triple A innings. He gave up 10 runs, eight earned, on 12 hits over nine Grapefruit League innings in spring training.
