Rockies' Charlie Blackmon loves hitting at Citizens Bank Park

When Colorado Rockies centerfielder Charlie Blackmon is coming to play the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, his eyes grow wide.

"I think I just see the ball good," Blackmon said. "I like playing here."

It shows in his work.

Blackmon hit two home runs and drove in four runs during Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Phillies. Both homers came off Phillies starter Zach Eflin.

In 18 career games at Citizens Bank Park including 11 starts, the 30-year-old Blackmon is batting .347 (16 for 46) with 13 runs, seven home runs and 12 RBIs.

Unlike many opponents, he views coming to Philadelphia as something to look forward to.

"(Philadelphia) is a place I enjoy going on the road as opposed to a lot of other places I could name that I don't like to play," said Blackmon, whose homers traveled 427 and 414 feet respectively. "I enjoy this."

Blackmon now has eight multi home run games in his career and three of them are at Citizens Bank Park.

He is among five players to have three career multi-homer games at Citizens Bank Park. (The others are Jayson Werth, Adrian Gonzalez, Lucas Duda and Carlos Beltran).

Blackmon appears headed to his second all-star game after making his first in 2014. He is now batting .325 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs. That is serious production for any hitter, especially one who bats leadoff.

"I am not hitting like nasty pitches, I am just trying to hit the ones over the plate," he said. "I am trying not to miss those."

He hasn't missed many during a season where he could surface as an MVP candidate for a 30-17 Rockies team that has the best record in the National League.
