Prospect Nick Williams expects to return this weekend

READING - Outfield prospect Nick Williams is expected to rejoin double-A Reading this weekend after suffering a concussion last week.

The 21-year-old has been sidelined since Aug. 26. Williams collided with the first baseman after grounding out to third. He ran sprints on Tuesday afternoon and has played catch. Reading manager Dusty Wathan said Williams would likely hit off a batting tee on Wednesday.

"Everything is good," Williams said. "I'm just waiting for the go-ahead to play."

Williams hopes to play Friday in Richmond. Wathan is leaning more towards Saturday's game. Either way, Williams' return will be a spark for Reading as it prepares for next week's Eastern League playoffs. Williams is batting .326 in 21 games since being acquired from Texas as part of the Cole Hamels trade. He has played centerfield and batted leadoff.
