Phillies to open 2016 season in Cincinnati

The Phillies will open next year in Cincinnati as they start the season on the road for the fourth time in five years, sources told The Inquirer.

Opening Day against the Reds is slated for April 4. The Phillies will then travel to play the Mets before hosting San Diego on April 11 in the home opener.

In interleague play, the Phillies will host Cleveland (April 29-May 1), Toronto (June 15-16), Kansas City (July 1-3), and the Chicago White Sox (Sep. 20-21). They will travel to Detroit (May 23-25), Toronto (June 13-14), Minnesota (June 21-23), and the Chicago White Sox (Aug. 23-24).

The game at Chicago is the Phillies first visit to U.S. Cellular Field since 2004. It creates two visits to the Windy City as the Phillies will play the Cubs on Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29.
