The Phillies have signed 19 of their 40 picks from last week's Major League Baseball draft. Eight of the team's top 10 selections have agreed to deals.

Eighteen of the 19 signed players are from college. The lone high-school pick to sign was righthander Sam McWilliams, an eighth-round pick from Beech High School in Tennessee.

Twelve of the signees were college seniors, so those agreements were fait accompli. Most of the new picks will start their professional careers at single-A Williamsport, which plays its first game Friday. Others will play for the Gulf Coast League Phillies.
