Phillies not popular choice for national TV

The Phillies won 73 games a season ago and did not acquire a big name this winter. That makes them a not-so-popular choice among the TV executives who decide which Major League Baseball games will be shown to a national audience.

For now, the Phillies are scheduled to appear in one nationally televised game — on Fox, July 12 vs. Washington at Citizens Bank Park. They will not appear on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball until the second half of the season, if at all.

Comcast SportsNet, under the stipulations of their new TV rights deal with the Phillies, will broadcast 140 games. Twelve games, mostly on Saturdays, will be aired on its sister station, NBC10. Another nine April games are slated for The Comcast Network while the Flyers and Sixers finish their seasons.
