Christopher O'Hare, a lefthanded pitcher in the Phillies' minor-league system, was suspended 50 games Wednesday by Major League Baseball because of a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

O'Hare, a 23d-round pick in 2013, appeared in five games — mostly with single-A Lakewood — and allowed two runs in five innings. The 23-year-old attended Fisher College in Boston.

A drug of abuse, under MLB's classifications, is not a steroid.

Two Phillies were suspended in 2013. Catcher Carlos Ruiz was docked 25 games for usage of a stimulant, Adderall. Lefthander Antonio Bastardo was barred 50 games for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal. No Phillies domestic minor-league players were suspended in 2013.
