Phillies lose out on top Cuban prospect Yoan Moncada

According to MLB.com, the Phillies will not be signing ballyhooed Cuban prospect Yohan Moncada. That's because he has signed with the Boston Red Sox, who last year signed Cuban center fielder Rusney Castillo. Moncada signed a bonus in the $30 million range, per MLB.com, which means the Red Sox committed closer to $60 million due to a 100 percent tax on their international bonus pool overage.

The Phillies had interest in Moncada. But, like Yasmany Tomas, Castillo, Jorge Soler and Yoenis Cespedes before him, they did not win the bidding.
