HARRISBURG -- Righthander Aaron Nola had a sparkling Double-A debut last week for Reading against Harrisburg. The rematch against the Harrisburg Senators at Metro Bank Park, didn’t go as smoothly.

Nola allowed three runs in four innings, with all three coming on solo home runs in Wednesday’s rematch. He surrendered six hits, while striking out two and walking one. Nola, the No. 7 overall pick in the June draft from LSU, threw 78 pitches, 51 for strikes.

His fastball topped at 94 MPH. One of those 94 MPH fastballs was belted for a home run by Jason Martinson.

For what it's worth, Reading won the seven-inning game, 8-4. It was the first game of a doubleheader.

Last week against the same Harrisburg team Nola allowed just one run on six hits in five innings. He threw 72 pitches, 47 for strikes in a 9-2 win.

The Phillies are monitoring Nola’s innings. Counting 116 1/3 innings at LSU, he has thrown 156 2/3 innings.

The Phillies won’t have him go above 170 innings, which means at the most, Nola will have three more starts.
