After announcing the postponement of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets, the Phillies decided to push righthander Kyle Kendrick's next start back to Monday, allowing them to use the top three members of their rotation during the weekend series against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park.
Kendrick will next pitch Monday when the Phillies begin a four-game, home-and-home series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Cliff Lee, A.J. Burnett and Cole Hamels will pitch against the Nationals in what promises to be three marquee matchups.
Lee (3-2, 3.29 ERA) will be opposed Friday by Stephen Strasburg (2-2, 4.24), Burnett (1-1, 2.15) will go against Tanner Roark (2-0, 2.76) Saturday and Hamels (0-2, 6.75), coming off a miserable performance Tuesday night against the Mets, will face Gio Gonzalez (3-1, 3.25) Sunday.
The postponed game against the Mets was rescheduled for Monday June 2, which had previously been an off day for each team. It will be the final game of a five-game series.
