#OnDeck: Hot-hitting Franco impressing in winter league playoffs

Phillies third base prospect Maikel Franco is excelling offensively in the playoffs of the Dominican Winter League.

Maikel Franco will arrive in Clearwater next month on the heels of a great offensive performance in the Dominican Winter League playoffs.

In 12 games of the league's ongoing postseason, the touted Phillies' third base prospect is hitting .348 with a .941 OPS. Two home runs, three doubles and a triple for Gigantes del Cibao gives the 22-year-old the most total bases (27) among those in the playoffs.

His last five games have yielded two home runs, a double and four RBIs.

The only player in the league's playoffs with more home runs than Franco is Manny Ramirez. Yes, that Manny Ramirez.

In 38 regular-season winter league games, Franco hit .272 with seven homers and 29 RBIs.
