CHICAGO -- Domonic Brown was not in the starting lineup for the fifth time in seven games Saturday and manager Ryne Sandberg said the outfielder's sore right Achilles tendon will be examined more extensively when the team returns to Philadelphia after Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Sandberg indicated that Brown would be available as a pinch-hitter for Saturday's game.

"I hope it's not a thing that lingers for the rest of the season," Sandberg said. "It is something we're going to get checked out when we get back."

Brown left an Aug. 24 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks because of the injury and remained out of the starting lineup for four games after that. He returned with a two-hit game against the New York Mets Thursday, but had to leave Friday's game against the Cubs after he had trouble running down the first-base line.

Third baseman Cody Asche also remained out of the lineup Saturday, but not because of the hamstring injury that had sidelined him in the previous two games.

"Cody is pretty much good to go," Sandberg said. "We're facing a lefty, so I figured I'd just give him one more day."

Here is the Phillies' complete lineup for Saturday's game against lefty Chris Rusin: Michael Young, 3B, Jimmy Rollins, SS, Chase Utley, 2B, Carlos Ruiz, C, Darin Ruf, LF, John Mayberry Jr., RF, Kevin Frandsen, 1B, Roger Bernadina, CF, Cliff Lee, P.
