Ruf activated by IronPigs

PITTSBURGH -- First baseman-outfielder Darin Ruf was activated off the disabled list today by Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Ruf broke his left wrist while playing for the IronPigs on June 2. He had been on a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Phillies for the past week.

Ruf batted .130 with a .437 OPS in 23 at-bats for the GFC Phillies.

Earlier this year for the Phillies, Ruf had one hit (a home run) in 10 at-bats.

In a corresponding move, lefthander Jeremy Horst was assigned to Double-A Reading from Lehigh Valley. Horst appeared in 28 games last year for the Phillies but went on the DL for the season on June 16 with a left elbow strain.

This season Horst had a 4.59 ERA in 28 relief appearances for the Iron Pigs.
