Game 71: Looking to stay hot

ST. LOUIS -- Since a 4-1 loss at Cincinnati on June 8, the Phillies have been on their best stretch of the season.

They have won 7 of 9 since then and began the day five games behind the Washington Nationals in the N.L. East.

Coming off a three-game sweep in Atlanta, the Phillies now face St. Louis in the first of four games at Busch Stadium. RHP David Buchanan (2-3, 5.97) opposes Cardinals RHP Shelby Miller (7-5, 3.42).

The Phillies have won three in a row and are looking for their first streak longer than that since winning five in a row from June 2-6 in 2013.

Catcher Cameron Rupp has been recalled from Lehigh Valley and the Phillies sent outfielder Aaron Altherr to Reading.

Rupp is needed as a third catcher after Wil Nieves injured his right quadriceps during Wednesday's 10-5 at Atlanta.

Jimmy Rollins has a 12-game hitting streak, with one hit in each of the last 12 games. During this span, Rollins is 12 for 48 (.250) with two home runs, four RBIs, seven runs scored and a .745 OPS.

The Cardinals (39-33) are coming off 3-2 loss to the visiting New York Mets that snapped a five-game win streak.

Ben Revere, who has been battling a bruised left knee, is not in the Phillies starting lineup for a third straight game.
