Recap of today's events
No. 11 round pick Drew Stankiewicz of Arizona State who batted .331 with three home runs and 26 RBIs. A junior, he had 10 steals in 13 attempts. He is the son of former Major Leaguer Andy Stankiewicz.
The No. 12 pick was Cal State-Bakersfield lefthander Austin Davis, a redshirt sophomore. The 6-foot-5 Davis was 4-9 with a 4.03 ERA. In 96 innings he struck out 60 and walked 44.
University of Texas righthander Nathan Thornhill, the Phillies No. 13 selection, earned the win in the Longhorns 4-2 NCAA Super Regional victory on Friday over Houston. He allowed two runs in seven innings. A senior, Thornhill is now 8-2 with a 1.57 ERA. He has 59 strikeout and 35 walks in 97 2/3 innings.
No. 14 pick Chase Harris, a senior outfielder from New Mexico, hit .377 with eight home runs, 63 RBIs and a .991 OPS.
Phillies No. 15 draft choice Jared Fisher, a 6-foot-4 junior righthander from the University of Washington, was 6-4 with a 4.07 ERA. In 95 innings, he had 60 strikeouts and allowed 47 walks.
In the 16th round the Phillies chose 6-foot-5 Barry University senior righthander Calvin Rayburn. He appeared in 19 games, making six starts and was 4-2 with a 3.78 ERA, with 43 strikeouts and 25 walks in 66 1/3 innings.
Damek Tomscha, a senior third baseman from Auburn, was the 17th round pick. He batted .313 with five home runs and 29 RBIs and had a .974 fielding percentage. He was a 19th round selection of the Chicago Cubs out of Iowa Western Junior College in the 2012 draft and a 36th round selection by Miami in the 2011 draft.
No. 18 pick Sean McHugh, a senior catcher from Purdue, batted .297 with four home runs and 28 RBIs.
No. 19 selection, senior lefthander Joey Denato, had a big season for Indiana. He was 13-1 with a 1.82 ERA. Opponents hit .236 against him and he recorded 81 strikeouts and 39 walks in 109 innings.
The Phillies took Cal-Berkeley senior second baseman Derek Campbell with the 20th pick. He was a utility player at Cal, but the Phillies like him at second base. He hit just .266 but had seven home runs.
Tim Zier, a senior second baseman from San Diego State was the 21st pick. He played all 63 games this season and batted .319 with one home run and 33 RBIs.
The 22nd pick was Jr. RHP Ryan Powers of Miami-Ohio. He was 9-3 with a 4.25 ERA, with 16 appearances, including 13 starts. In 84 2/3 innings, Powers struck out 60 and walked 35.
Michigan State senior catcher Joel Fisher was the 23rd choice. He batted .264 with five home runs and 39 RBIs.
The No. 24 pick was U. of Tampa RHP Preston Packrall. This season he appeared in 19 games, with 10 starts. Packrall was 11-0 with a 2.12 ERA.
At No. 25, the Phillies chose Creighton Sr. RHP Bryan Sova, who made 28 of his 29 appearances in relief. Sova was 6-1 with a 2.09 ERA and nine saves.
No. 26 selection Jacques de Gruy, a Sr. RHP from Furman, appeared in 19 games, with 10 starts. He was 4-4 with a 5.61 ERA, but averaged nearly a strikeout an inning, with 66 strikeouts in 69 innings. He also walked 31.
With the No. 27 pick, the Phillies drafted LHP Scott Harris from Division III Buena Vista U. He was 8-1 with a 2.78 ERA, with 81 strikeouts and 22 walks in 68 innings.
At No. 28 the Phillies took RHP Tanner Kiest from Chaffey Junior College in California. He was 3-5 with a 5.40 ERA, but averaged 13.03 strikeouts per game he has 70 strikeouts (and 39 walks) in 48 1/3 innings.
The Phillies then took high school selections with their next two picks. At 29 it was SS Alfredo Molina of Red Bank Catholic NJ and at No. 30 they took 6-3, 200-pound RHP Brandon Murray of Hobart H.S. in Indiana. Molina has signed with Coastal Carolina. Murray is a University of South Carolina recruit.
At 31 the Phillies chose sophomore RHP Shane Gonzales of Fullerton Junior College in California.
The No. 32 pick was local product Tom Flacco of Eastern H.S. in Voorhees, NJ. Flacco was a standout football prospect but was waiting until after the draft to make a decision on attending college to play football or signing professionally in baseball.
RHP James Harrington of Mesquite H.S. in Arizona, was the 33rd pick, a University of New Mexico recruit. In the 34th round it was junior college catcher Scott Tomassetti of the College of Southern Nevada. Tomassetti hit .299 with one home run and 18 RBIs.
At No. 35 it was another local product, Moorestown High centerfielder Thomas Gamble, whose father Tom is the Eagles vice president of player personnel. His late grandfather was Harry Gamble, the former Eagles executive.
The 36th pick was Blake Wiggins, a catcher from Pulaski Academy H.S. in Arkansas. He is a University of Arkansas recruit. (We tweeted that the Sixers can only hope they land a player of the same name).
Another high school pick at 37 was RHP Keith Rogala of Oak Park & River Forest High in Illinois. He has made a commitment to Creighton.
At No. 38 the pick was North Carolina high school RHP Kollin Schrenk, son of former Phillies pitcher and current minor league pitching coach Steve Schrenk.
The 39th round choice was LF Keenan Eaton of Chaparral High in Colorado. He is a Vanderbilt recruit.
The final selection in the 40th round was Jesse Berardi, a shortstop from Commack H.S. in New York.
