Righthander Jonathan Pettibone, who started two games for the Phillies this year in between two stints at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, has been placed on the disabled list by the IronPigs with a right shoulder strain.

Pettibone has labrum irregularities, which according to Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr., is nothing different shown on previous MRIs. Amaro says that because Pettibone is still experiencing discomfort, that he wants a second opinion. That will come on May 21 when he sees famed surgeon Dr. James Andrews.

Pettibone missed the last two months of the 2013 season with a right shoulder strain and he continued to experience discomfort in the beginning of spring training.

He began the season at Lehigh Valley, was called up and pitched two games for the Phillies before being sent back down. With the Phillies he was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two starts covering nine innings.
