CHICAGO — The Phillies postponed their home opener against Milwaukee more than 25 hours before the scheduled first pitch at Citizens Bank Park. The game, originally scheduled for 3:05 p.m. Monday, will be played Tuesday at 4:05 p.m.
The decision was made Sunday afternoon, the team said, because the schedule provided a "built-in rain protection date" on Tuesday. The weather forecast calls for "considerable rain all Monday afternoon," according to the Phillies.
All tickets from Monday's game will be honored Tuesday, the team said. All gates will open at 1:35 p.m. The game will be televised on NBC10.
The Phillies made a similar decision in 1996. They postponed the season opener against Colorado at Veterans Stadium a day before the game.
