As expected Chase Utley will begin a rehab assignment tonight at Double-A Reading. Manager Charlie Manuel said Utley was originally going to go on Tuesday, but due to the inclement weather, decided to hold off.

There is no word how long the assignment would be, but Utley and general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. both suggested that they didn’t think it would be lengthy.

Utley has been on the disabled list since May 23 with a right oblique strain.
