The Flyers recalled Cal Heeter from the AHL Phantoms on Friday night, and the former Ohio State star will serve as Steve Mason's backup Saturday afternoon against the Rangers.

Heeter was recalled on an emergency basis because Ray Emery is day to day with a lower-body injury.

With the Phantoms this season, Heeter has a 15-19 record with a 2.48 GAA and .916 save percentage. He was recalled twice by the Flyers last season but never got into a game.
