Phantoms clinch playoff berth, but goalie Anthony Stolarz injured

The Phantoms clinched their first AHL playoff berth in seven seasons with a 2-1 shootout win Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but they lost the services of goalie Anthony Stolarz.

Stolarz, 23, who has a chance to be the Flyers' backup goalie next season, had to be helped off the ice 1:32 into the game. The New Jersey native was walking with crutches after the win, according to Phantoms beat writer Tony Androckitis.

Alex Lyon relieved Stolarz and stopped 33 of 34 shots and all three in the shootout.

In seven games with the Flyers this season, the 6-foot-6 Stolarz had a 2.07 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.

General manager Ron Hextall should have an update on Stolarz on Thursday.
