Flyers recall Laughton, demote Jones

Scott Laughton will play in an NHL game Wednesday for the first time since the 2012-13 season.

The Flyers recalled the 20-year-old center from Lehigh Valley Tuesday night, and he will be in the lineup Wednesday in Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers.

In 13 games with the AHL Phantoms this season, Laughton had six goals and five assists. Two years ago, he went point-less in five NHL games.

Blair Jones was sent down to the Phantoms on Tuesday night.

The moves were made on a day in which the Flyers learned that center Claude Giroux would probably miss two games because of an apparent foot injury.

It is not known what line Laughton will center. That should be known after Wednesday's morning skate in New York, where the Flyers have lost eight straight regular-season games.
