Update: Flyers prospect Sam Morin undergoes surgery

Defenseman Sam Morin, expected to be a regular with the Flyers next season, underwent successful surgery on both wrists recently, general manager Ron Hextall confirmed on Saturday.

Hextall, who is in Paris for the IIHF World Championships, texted that the injury was "nothing long term."

On Instagram, Morin posted two photos of his stitched wrists. The photos, posted by Highland Park Hockey, showed two separate incisions.

Morin, 21, did not miss any games with the AHL's Phantoms this season because of injuries. He also played a late-season game with the Flyers.

The 6-foot-7, 227-pound Morin was impressive in his Flyers debut, a 1-0 overtime loss in New Jersey. He was the Flyers' first-round selection (11th overall) in the 2013 draft.
