To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NHL Draft, has compiled a list of the best first-round selections of all time.

The all-time best 30th overall pick was announced on June 1, while the best first overall selection will be announced on June 30, the day of this year's draft.

Although Flyers fans may not have much to smile about after this past season, the inclusion of Claude Giroux on the list has to make hockey heads happy.

Giroux was drafted in 2006 as the 22nd overall selection, and decided to include the Flyers’ captain as the best 22nd overall pick of all time.

Giroux made his NHL debut during the 2007-08 season, and after a brief stint in the AHL, he was called up to the Flyers for good in 2009.

Giroux’s production and popularity have grown every season since, highlighted by being named captain before last season and earning the cover for EA Sports’ NHL ’13 by fans nation-wide.

Something to remember:'s 13-member panel picked Giroux as the best 22nd overall draft pick of all time and he is still only 25 years old. The captain has a long while left to build upon his already-impressive resume.
