Flyers' Michal Neuvirth will miss 4-6 weeks

Goalie Michal Neuvirth will miss four to six weeks with an apparent knee injury suffered Saturday in the opening period of the Flyers' 3-2 win over Minnesota.

The Flyers are expected to recall Lehigh Valley's Anthony Stolarz, who will soon make his NHL debut.

Neuvirth figures to go on the long-term injured reserve list, giving the Flyers enough salary-cap space to recall Stolarz, a New Jersey native who is 6-2 with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage with the AHL's Phantoms.

After a career season in 2015-16, Neuvirth has struggled this year, compiling a 3.54 goals-against average and an .859 save percentage.

With Neuvirth sidelined, Steve Mason (3.41 GAA, .880 save percentage) could get a majority of the starts.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Stolarz, an AHL all-star last season, was a second-round draft pick (45th overall) in 2012. He served as the Phantoms' backup Sunday against Hershey and was expected to be recalled after the game.

The Flyers have three home games this week, facing Ottawa on Tuesday, Winnipeg on Thursday, and Tampa Bay on Saturday before playing back-to-back road games against Florida and Tampa Bay the following week.
