After sitting out the last five games as a healthy scratch, Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros will return to the lineup Tuesday against the visiting Anaheim Ducks.
Gustafsson struggled in the Flyers' 5-2 win over the Islanders Saturday.
“It was tough for me. I was only a one-time a healthy scratch (when he played in Tampa Bay) , and this was five games," Meszaros said after Monday's practice in Voorhees ". It was hard. I worked hard in practice and tried to stay in shape. Just have to wait for my opportunity and prove to everybody that I can play.”
In five games, Meszaros had zero points and was an "even" plus/minus player.
"I could have played better, but obviously we weren’t winning and something had to be changed," Meszaros said. "Everybody obviously has to play better. When you’re a healthy scratch and sit down like that, you just have to work harder than everybody else and try to get in the lineup, so that’s what I tried to do the past few weeks and I can’t wait to get out there.”
The Flyers have some depth on defense, so they may be showcasing Meszaros for a possibe trade for a winger.
