Flyers: 21 for 30?

Flyers: 21 for 30?

Do the Flyers have 30 points left in their final 21 chambers? That's probably about what they will need to pass Boston for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Despite their 1-5-2 slide lately, the Bruins' 67 points in 60 games puts them on a pace for 92 points. The Flyers, who would almost certainly lose the first tie-breaker to Boston (regulation plus overtime wins) should the two teams finished tied, would seemingly need 93 points to qualify.

That means 30 points in their final 21 games ... Something they have done just six times in their previous 46 seasons (see the list below). The good news is, two of the six times they did manage it, were seasons covering the '4-'5 years (1984-85 and 1974-75), such as the current one.

(Hey, considering the current local sports landscape, we look for bright spots anywhere we can ... )

By the way, the only team to ring up 30+ points over their final 21 games last season was Boston, who went 15-2-4 for 34 points.
