Five things to know today as Flyers face sizzling Capitals

Five things to know today about the Flyers (30-26-7) as they play in Washington against the best-in-the-NHL Capitals (43-13-7) on Saturday night:

  1. By his lofty standards, Flyers killer Alex Ovechkin is having an off season. He has just four points over his last nine games and is on pace for 35 goals _ after scoring 50 or more in each of the previous three seasons. In 44 career games against the Flyers, he has 31 goals.

  2. The Caps have won a franchise-record 14 straight at home, and they have points in their last 16 games (14-0-2) at the Verizon Center. Washington is expected to have winger T.J. Oshie (24 goals) back in the lineup Saturday after missing four games with an undisclosed injury.

  3. Winger Travis Konecny (seven goals, 22 points), who has missed the last nine games with a leg injury, could return to the Flyers' lineup Saturday. Based on Friday's practice, Konency is likely to return.

  4. Tom Wilson (174) and Ovechkin (171) lead the Caps in hits, while Radko Gudas (218) and Brayden Schenn (160) pace the Flyers.

  5. Surprisingly, the Flyers have a better shootout record (6-4) than Washington (1-5).  The Flyers are four points out of a wild-card spot with 19 games remaining.
