Five things to know today about the Flyers (32-30-8), who host Carolina (29-27-12) on Sunday night:

  1. The Flyers have lost four of their last five games and have fallen to 12th in the Eastern Conference.
  2. For those still paying attention, the Flyers now have to climb past four teams to get into the playoffs. They are six points behind Toronto, which holds the final wild-card spot, and have 12 games left.
  3. Claude Giroux quietly has a six-game point streak.
  4.  Carolina will be playing on back-to-back nights. The Hurricanes host Nashville on Saturday.
  5. Rookie forward Sebastian Aho, who has 20 goals, notched his first career hat trick and added an assist in the Hurricanes’ 5-1 win over the visiting Flyers on Jan. 31.
